This is an updated showreel including all the animations I have made during my time on the foundation course at Ravensbourne.

The Girl With the Yellow Balloon
This is my final animation 'the girl with the yellow balloon,' i am really pleased with the outcome and think the narrative has worked well. I hand drew all the scenes on flash and imported them into after effects to put them all together. It took we a while to master the girls walk and some of the complexed parts such as climbing the tree and turning her head at the end. Feedback I got from crits included: in depth research, good inspiration, nice sound, could of made the string move more, a hand drawn title would of been nice, nice style, some footsteps out of sync, good shapes, nice that only somethings were coloured, childlike style. simple and effective, different sound footsteps when climbing the tree, playful at beginning, narrative could of gone further, nice story, could of had a balloon sound, nice black and white silhouettes. If i had more time i would of liked to make the balloon string move more and tried out different sounds, i would also of like to make it longer maybe had more struggles in the middle of her trying to catch the balloon. Overall I am pleased with the outcome and really enjoyed this project as a whole.

Test Animation
This is a quick test animation I did using just the first few frames of my storyboard. I drew the animation on flash and put it into after effects to put them together. I think the timing is right however at the moment the girl just slides along the floor, i need to animate her arms and legs to look like she is walking which would improve the animation. I like the background and the birds but will need to crop it for the final animation.

Animatic
This is a quick animatic i made using the my storyboard. I set the timeline to 30 seconds and moved each frame to the time I wanted it. I used the sound I recorded from Lambeth as background sound and got a few sounds of birds tweeting and a girl laughing from youtube. For my final animation i want to go back to Lambeth and record a few more sound to add to the ones i already have.

Style Sheets
These are a few style sheets i drew, I want my animation to be fun, playful and childlike so i want to hand draw my animation either onto flash or make a stop motion hand drawn animation. I don't want them to be the best drawings and I just want the outline of buildings and objects. I want the animation to only have certain objects coloured in for example the balloon however i am thinking now of having her dress and the river in colour as well. I think this will work well so certain parts stand out and the rest blends in to the background so the viewer focuses on the important objects.
Storyboards
The first story board I drew was based on the one legged pigeon. He gets bullied by his friends so decides to run away. He is sheltering in the rain when a cat comes up to him and says he can get the pigeon a new leg. The pigeon follows the cat however the cat was tricking him and eats the pigeon. This was just a first draft storyboard and needs work however it does go from a negative to a positive and back to a negative.
My first draft storyboard is about a girl walking with her father when the wind blows and the balloon blows away. They are both trying to catch it but can't so decide to walk away. The balloon then starts to chase the little girl and they play a game. The wind blows and the balloon gets stuck in the tree , the little girl tries to grab the balloon but realises it has a nice view of the city so decides to leave it up there. After talking with Chris he says he likes the story but says I should cut the whole animation down to the last two frames.
My second storyboard is detailed and is based on the last two frames of my first story. It focuses on the girl playing chase with the balloon and trying to catch it when it goes in the tree and eventually realising it is nice for the balloon to float away rather than being tied down with her.
I have watched a few short films the red balloon and the kite runner that i think relate well to my story, about the chase for something by small children.
Lambeth
The second day of the project we had to visit a random area of London that we placed a pin on, on a map. The area I chose was Lambeth, I had never been before so I was happy to visit somewhere new. However I found the area quite boring! There was no one around and not many things went on. The two things I saw that I think I can make an animation out of is a one legged pigeon and a girl carrying a yellow balloon. I thought the Imperial war museum made a good location for my animation especially the large tree that was beside it and the interesting top of the building. Theses are some drawings I did on the day.
